HERSHEY COCOA CAKE
CONTEST RULES

1. Exhibitor must be an individual who is an OLEY FAIR area resident.
2. Entry must be a Layered cake made from "scratch" and frosted.
3. A minimum of 1/4 cup of HERSHEY's COCOA must be used and listed as "HERSHEY'S COCOA" in the recipe.
4. If the cake frosting is chocolate, HERSHEY'S COCOA must be used and listed as "HERSHEY'S COCOA" in the recipe.
5. Any entry that requires refrigeration after baking will not be accepted for food safety reasons (ex: no whipping cream, frozen toppings, cream cheese, custards, etc.)
6. Cake entry must be submitted for judging on cardboard. (no doily requried)
7. Recipe(s) listing the ingredients and the preparation instructions must be submitted with the entry (printed on one-side of the page.)
8. Entries will be accepted Monday or Tuesday 4-8 p.m. in the Oley Valley Fair Centre. Entries may be removed at 9:30 p.m. Saturday

Judging will be based on the following criteria:
  Overall Appearance
25 points
  Consistency ( Size/Shape)
15 points
  Moistness and Crumb
20 points
  Flavor
30 points
  Topping or Icing
10 points
 
TOTAL 100 points
 

 

PRIZES: 1ST=$200 2ND=$100 3RD= $60 4TH=$40 5TH=$25

 
First Place Winner is eligible for the Farm Show competition. Prizes for the PA State Hershey Cocoa Cake Winners:  1st - $500, 2nd - $250, 3rd - $100.

HERSHEY GREATEST BAKING CHIPS 
COOKIE, BROWNIE OR BAR
CONTEST RULES

1. Exhibitor must be an individual (age 8 through and including 18 years ONLY) who is an OLEY FAIR area resident..

2.

 Entry must be cookies, brownies, or bars made from "scratch."
3.

A minimum of 1/4 cup of HERSHEY'S BAKING CHIPS (any variety) must be used and listed in as "HERSHEY'S" and name the specific chip variety in the recipe.
4. If the entry has icing/drizzle, and the icing/drizzle is chocolate, HERSHEY'S COCOA must be used and listed as "HERSHEY'S COCOA" in the icing/drizzle recipe.
5. Any entry that requires refrigeration after baking will not be accepted for food safety reasons (ex: no whipping cream, frozen toppings, cream cheese, custards, etc.)
6. Entry must be submitted for judging as a plate of six (6) on a doily-covered cardboard.
7. Recipe(s) must be submitted with the entry (printed on one-side only of the pages.)
8. Entries will be accepted Monday or Tuesday 4-8 p.m. in the Oley Valley Fair Centre. Entries may be removed at 9:30 p.m. Saturday
9. Judging will be based on the following criteria:

BLUE RIBBON APPLE PIE CONTEST

You are invited to enter this special contest by baking your favorite recipe for an apple pie.

Pies will be judged on the following basis: overall appearance; crust - color, flavor, texture, and doneness; filling - consistency, doneness, and flavor; and creativity.

Creativity is essential, this contest is not limited to a "traditional" two-crust apple pie. The judges will be looking for a variety of the fillings in the pies, but the pie must include at least 60% apples in the filling. Recipe must be included with entry (printed on one-side of the page).
