Dear Fair Friends:
I believe we all have said that famous phrase at one time or another, “how time flies when you are having fun”. Well, it’s really hard to believe it is time to write this message again as we are quickly approaching the 62nd annual Oley Fair.
The Oley Fair is all about having fun, as this small community gets together ever year to reunite with each other and enjoy some famous Pennsylvania Dutch Food and share the past with each other. As I walk around the fairgrounds during fair time, I enjoy seeing the circles of friends and family chatting away, smiling and laughing and just taking that time to enjoy life as it should be.
As you are walking around the fairgrounds this year I am sure you will take notice of the beautiful brand new refreshment building that was dedicated to the Oley Fair and the Oley Fire Company on April 16, 2008. I am truly amazed at how two organizations were able to work together and come up with a building that would be viable for both entities. Lots of hard work went into this project and I can truly say that time did fly this year as we had fun in designing and watching it all come together. Due to a large contribution by National Penn Bank, this building is now known as the National Penn Building.
As you attend the fair this year, you will now get to stand in one line to purchase those hamburgers, hot dogs and pork Bar B Q’s. For those of you wanting to enjoy a funnel cake or two, you will now find them down in the building right next to where you get the famous Oley Fair french fries. If a fresh fruit cup or Italian sandwich is on your menu, you will find them in our new refreshment building. As always, if you need help in finding anything, feel free to ask any of those volunteers.
Well, once again this year has been no different as lots of good things have been going on with this great association. Please consider joining us this year as we celebrate 62 years of what two men started in this great community we call The Oley Valley. I look forward to seeing you at the fair !!!!!
